By a unanimous vote of their colleagues on the North Miami City Council, Vice Mayor Alix Desulme was appointed as the next Mayor of the City of North Miami and Councilwoman Mary Estimé-Irvin was appointed as the next Vice Mayor. Both appointments to serve are effective immediately.
“I am humbled by the appointment, Mayor Desulme revealed. “It gives me great pride to serve as mayor and I will serve in this new capacity with a continued focus on advocating for all residents and ensuring that we continue to move the city forward.”
The Mayor will preside over all city council meetings. Mayor Desulme began serving on the city council as the District 4 representative in 2015 and previously served as the elected city clerk. Vice Mayor Estimé-Irvin was elected as the District 3 councilwoman in 2019.
“I will continue to represent the people of this great city in this new role,” Vice Mayor Estimé-Irvin stated. “I will serve as Vice Mayor with great pride and dignity. I look forward to working with Mayor Desulme.”
