North Miami, FL — February 5, 2020 - On Friday, Feb. 7th, North Miami’s Vice Mayor Alix Desulme, Ed.D., and Mayor Maria Cubillos, President of Miami-Dade County League of Cities will join reality TV star Amara La Negra to unveil the Unite to Fight Against HIV/AIDS bus shelter campaign for National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day.

The campaign will include a ribbon cutting ceremony for the first bus shelter, followed by a media tour at a nearby local radio station. The North Miami City Council unanimously approved a resolution, sponsored by Desulme, to bring the awareness campaign to the City.

“This campaign is important for the entire community” said Desulme “Miami-Dade has over 20,000 persons living with HIV; and over 40% of that population is black. This is why we must put forth educational resources, urge everyone to know their status and Unite to Fight.”

Free testing will also be provided by Empower U Community Health Center from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., at AM1490 WMBM radio station, located at 13242 NW 7th Avenue, North Miami, Florida 33161.
