City of North Miami Public Library Celebrates Successful Opening of Community’s First 24-Hour Library
NORTH MIAMI, FL (January 7, 2026)
The City of North Miami Public Library celebrated the launch of the community’s first 24-Hour Library with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Tuesday, December 16, at the Joe Celestin Community Center.
City officials, library staff, community partners, and residents gathered to open this innovative, self-service kiosk, which now gives North Miami residents round-the-clock access to library materials—24 hours a day, seven days a week.
EnvisionWare technology powers the 24-Hour Library, enabling it to function as a fully automated mini-branch. Patrons check out and return books, place and retrieve holds, browse available selections, and manage their library accounts at any time, extending library services well beyond traditional operating hours.
“This kiosk represents a new chapter for library access in North Miami,” said Paul Bazile, MLIS, MPA, Library Director. “We are meeting our residents where they are and when they need us most. The 24-Hour Library ensures that learning, literacy, and opportunity are always within reach—no matter the time of day.”
The kiosk’s strategic location in District 4 expands critical access for families, working residents, students, and seniors who may face challenges visiting the library during regular hours. By removing barriers to access, the initiative strengthens the City’s ongoing commitment to literacy, equity, and inclusive public service.
With this launch, North Miami becomes the first municipal library in the region to implement 24-hour kiosk technology, making the City a leader in innovative, community-centered library services. Across the country, library systems increasingly recognize similar kiosks as cost-effective solutions for expanding library reach without constructing or staffing additional full-service branches.
