The City of North Miami, is pleased to announce the grand opening of the Lucia Martinez Gonzalez Tot-Lot on Saturday, May 17. The occasion will be marked with a ribbon cutting ceremony hosted by Vice Mayor Kassandra Timothe, MPA, District 2, in collaboration with the North Miami Housing and Social Services Department, and the North Miami Community Redevelopment Agency (NMCRA).

The event will occur from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., at the North Miami Public Library, 835 NE 132nd Street, North Miami, FL 33161. Festivities will include a live magician, face painting, and games.

“I am beyond excited to finally bring this project to completion,” said Timothe. “As a child, I played in that same tot lot and saw the need in our community. Twenty years later, District 2 now has a brand-new playground for years to come.”

This special celebration honors living legacy, Lucia Martinez Gonzalez, former Director of the North Miami Public Library. It also highlights the City's commitment to investing in safe, engaging, and inclusive public spaces for young children and their families to play, learn, and grow. The new tot lot will feature a climbing apparatus, a slide, and a swing set.

The event is free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to RSVP
