The North Miami Public Library’s first virtual Summer Reading Club is officially underway. Through online platforms such as Facebook and the NoMi Library’s webpage, youth up to age 18, can digitally log books read and participate in educational and entertaining programming from home, as the library works toward reopening.
The 2020 theme is “Imagine Your Story.” Keeping with tradition, the Summer Reading Club and Virtual Programs are free of charge to NoMi Library card holders. Digital library cards are also accepted. Library card holders can register at nomilibrary.readsquared.com or download the ReadSquared App to digitally log books read. They can also check-out books and other reading materials.
The programmatic portion of the Summer Reading Club is being facilitated through Page Turner Adventures. Pre-scheduled programming will be made available on the North Miami Public Library’s official Facebook page. Programs include virtual story time, plays, music, art and more. This year’s Summer Reading Club runs through Aug. 15th. The program is designed to prevent summer learning loss among youth through leisurely reading and diverse virtual enrichment activities. Registered participants will be entered into drawings for gift cards, age-appropriate technology and book giveaways sponsored by the Friends of the North Miami Public Library. The raffle drawings are scheduled for Saturday, Aug. 15th at 11 a.m., on Facebook Live.
To register for a library card, visit the NoMi Library’s registration web page or call the Library at 305-891-5535. Program registration assistance is available by phone during business hours.
