City of North Miami Urges Support for Communities Impacted by Hurricane Melissa, with Special Prayers for Jamaica, Haiti, and Other Caribbean Nations

NORTH MIAMI, FL (November 5, 2025)

The City of North Miami extends heartfelt prayers and solidarity to the people of Jamaica, who have suffered the most devastating impacts from Hurricane Melissa, as well as to Haiti and other Caribbean nations also affected by the storm. 

“We are a compassionate city. We rally together, we show up, and we give,” said North Miami Mayor Alix Desulme, Ed.D. “Today, we ask our community to keep Jamaica in your prayers first, and to support our neighbors across the region with generosity and care.” 

Beginning immediately, the City of North Miami is collecting essential supplies and coordinating local relief efforts to assist affected families across the Caribbean in support of Global Empowerment Mission.

  • Nonperishable food items 
  • Bottled water 
  • First-aid supplies 
  • Flashlights and batteries 
  • Diapers and baby wipes 
  • Hygiene kits (soap, toothpaste, sanitary items) 
  • New blankets, socks, and towels 

Please note: No used clothing or linens will be accepted.
