February 20, 2020 — Today, the North Miami Police Department, under the leadership of Chief Larry Juriga, received accredited status from the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation.
Members of the North Miami Police Department’s Command Staff, City of North Miami Administration and Elected Officials traveled to the CFA Conference in St. Augustine, FL to formally receive the prestigious designation. Following an extensive review process, including a self-assessment phase and an on-site assessment, NMPD was recommended for accredited status by the Commission.
“I am truly thankful for the hard work and commitment of our men and women. Becoming accredited through CFA has been a team effort,” said Juriga. “We are appreciative of the support we have received from our elected officials, the City Manager’s Office and our community.”
“CFA Accreditation is truly the gold standard for police work,” said North Miami Mayor Philippe Bien-Aime. “Regaining this accreditation was a huge undertaking and a major accomplishment. This accreditation raises the bar and ensures every person serving our city in public safety will be held to the highest standards possible.”
NMPD’s review yielded its highest marks in the areas of community engagement, leadership development, youth outreach and diversity.
