The City of North Miami will open the Application Process for the Emergency Mortgage Assistance Program
North Miami, FL – April 9, 2021
The City of North Miami’s Mayor and Council recently approved a third round of federal CARES ACT funding to help local residents. A part of these funds have been allocated towards the Emergency Mortgage Assistance Program which will become available on Monday, April 12th, 2021 to qualifying homeowners. Applications may be picked up at two partner provider locations: The Greater North Miami Chamber of Commerce (13100 West Dixie Hwy., North Miami, FL 33161) and The Haitian American Chamber of Commerce of Florida (713 NE 125 Street, North Miami, FL 33161).
The Emergency Mortgage Assistance Program aims to support low- to moderate-income residents who have been affected by the pandemic due to lost or reduced wages. Through North Miami’s Housing and Social Services Department, the City will award a total of $154,192 dollars in emergency mortgage assistance (until funds are depleted). To be eligible, the applicant’s mortgage must be current since March 2020 and not be past due more than four (4) months from the application date. The maximum assistance amount will be $5,000 per applicant and must not exceed six (6) months of mortgage payments. Available assistance includes late mortgage payments, late fees, and Principal Interest Tax Insurance (PITI) to prevent foreclosure.
Residents must submit completed applications with all required documents in person and by appointment to one of the partner providers. Incomplete applications will not be accepted.
