North Miami Police Department Police-Involved Shooting Under Investigation - UPDATE
North Miami, FL – July 9th, 2025
The North Miami Police Department is actively investigating a police-involved shooting that occurred in the 400 block of NE 137th Street. Officers requested assistance and Miami Dade Sheriff’s Office deputies responded. Gunfire was exchanged by officers, a male subject was shot multiple times and transported to the hospital for medical treatment. Two North Miami officers were also injured and transported to the hospital for treatment with non-life-threatening injuries. At this time, two individuals are in custody and there is no threat to the community.
In accordance with standard protocol for officer-involved shootings, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) is responding and will assume responsibility for the investigation.

Update:
One subject has been arrested. The subject is identified as Michael Mikal Harvey (DOB: 12/04/2007), he remains hospitalized in stable condition. Mr. Harvey is charged with Aggravated Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer, Aggravated Fleeing or Eluding, and Grand Theft Auto. A firearm was recovered from the stolen vehicle.
We want to reassure the community that there are no additional suspects at large regarding this incident and there is no threat to public safety.
