City of North Miami Celebrates 100 Years: Honoring Our Past, Building Our Future

NORTH MIAMI, FL (January 1, 2026)

The City of North Miami is proud to announce its Centennial Celebration, marking 100 years since the City’s founding. Throughout the centennial year, North Miami will commemorate this historic milestone with a full lineup of events and activities celebrating the City’s past, present, and future. 

The centerpiece of the celebration will take place on Thursday, February 5, 2026, the City’s official 100th birthday. The community is invited to attend Carnivals Around the World: North Miami’s 100th Anniversary, a cross-cultural, family-friendly event starting at MOCA Plaza, located at 770 NE 125th Street, North Miami, FL 33161, and ending at 9th Avenue. This milestone celebration will honor North Miami’s rich cultural diversity and global influences through entertainment, activities, and community engagement. 

“Celebrating 100 years is a remarkable achievement for our City,” said Mayor Alix Desulme, Ed. D. “North Miami’s story is one of diversity, perseverance, and community pride. As we celebrate this milestone, we honor everyone who helped build this City and invite the next generation to be part of shaping its future.” 

In addition to the official birthday celebration, the City has planned a variety of new and hallmark events throughout 2026, including:

  • Historical City Tour, offering residents and visitors a guided experience through North Miami’s history aboard the City Trolley, with tour dates scheduled throughout the year. 
  • 100 Days of School, in partnership with North Miami Elementary School, highlighting the City’s history education and youth engagement. 
  • North Miami Through the Century, a four-part historical lecture series exploring the City’s evolution from 1926 to today. 
  • Centennial Infusion Celebrations, weaving the centennial theme into beloved City traditions such as the Spring Egg Hunt, 4th of July Celebration by the Bay, NoMi Haunted Trails, 51st Annual WinterNational Thanksgiving Day Parade, and Light Up North Miami. 
  • North Miami Centennial Gala, a formal capstone celebration on Saturday, December 5, 2026, at the FIU Kovens Center.
