The City Council established an advisory committee by Resolution 2023 - 118 (PDF) on July 11, 2023; amended by Resolution 2025 -130 (PDF) on June 10, 2025, to be known as the Centennial Committee, to develop a vision for the City's centennial celebration for February 2026. The jurisdiction of the Committee shall be solely advisory and shall include:

  1. The Committee shall be comprised of fifteen (15) voting members. The Mayor and each Councilmember shall appoint three (3) individuals to the Committee. The Mayor and City Council shall appoint one (1) member of the City Council to serve on the committee as a voting member. The Council may, by motion or resolution, appoint additional non-voting, at-large members to the Committee. Committee members shall be residents. However, non-residents, business owners, or business operators within the City may be appointed to the Committee as non-voting members.
  2. Committee members shall be appointed for a term coinciding with the term of office of the appointing Mayor or Councilmember. Members may be reappointed.
  3. Committee members shall serve at the pleasure of the City Council.
  4. Committee members shall serve without compensation and shall not be reimbursed for travel, mileage, or per diem expenses.
  5. Committee members shall not be City employees. Any member who becomes employed by the City during his or her term of office shall be deemed to have resigned as of the start date of his or her employment with the City.
  6. In the event of the resignation or removal of any member of the Committee, the appointing Mayor or Councilmember shall appoint a person to fill the vacancy on the Committee for the unexpired portion of the term of the member vacating such office.

The powers and duties of the Committee shall be solely of an advisory nature to the City Council. Accordingly, Committee members shall comply with the applicable requirements of the Code of Ethics for Public Officers and Employees as provided in Chapter 112, Florida Statutes, and any other standards of conduct set by federal, state, county, City or other applicable law.

The Committee shall exist until December 31, 2026; provided, however, that the City Council may, by an affirmative motion or resolution, dissolve or extend the term of the Committee.
