On October 30, 2022, Officer Revilla was working at the Sans Souci Guard Gate when he heard the BOLO of a recently stolen vehicle from a nearby business. While on his way home, Officer Revilla observed a vehicle matching the description of the stolen vehicle traveling Northbound on Griffing Blvd crossing the intersection of NE 125th Street. Instead of continuing his route home, Officer Revilla took the initiative to make a detour and investigate the matter.
As Officer Revilla was traveling behind the vehicle, in the area of NE 131st Street and NE 4th Ave, he maintained a reasonable distance to not alarm the fleeing felon. Officer Revilla was able to positively identify the stolen vehicle via the attached Florida tag. Once the vehicle was verified as stolen, Officer Revilla promptly advised the Miami-Dade County Dispatcher and waited for additional units to respond. Once units arrived, Officer Revilla went into action and initiated a felony stop at NE 123rd Street and NE 4th Ave. Officer Revilla tactically positioned his marked vehicle behind the stolen vehicle and gave the driver (subject) loud verbal commands to surrender. Officer Revilla and the additional units were able to safely take a dangerous subject into custody without incident. As a result, the victim’s vehicle was returned to her.
Officer Revilla is recognized for his steadfast action and dedication in displaying the Department’s core values of Courage and Professionalism and for also “Making a Positive Impact” within the community.
