Neat Streets

Neat Streets Miami is a County wide street tree program. Neat streets annually awards various organizations matching grants to advance the Million Trees Miami initiative, a community-wide effort to achieve a 30 percent tree canopy for Miami-Dade County. North Miami has been receiving this grant annually since 2015.

In an effort to expand Miami-Dade County’s tree canopy by leveraging local resources, Neat Streets Miami-Dade County awarded the City of North Miami a street tree matching grant for its 2021 Neat Street Project in the amount of $11,600. As part of this project, the City of North Miami has planted 40 trees of different species including Silver Buttonwood (9), Paradise Tree (7), Pigeon Plum (9), Gumbo Limbo (1), Dahoon Holly (8), Wild Tamarind (6). The trees are to provide shade and beautify the community. All the trees are native, hence adapted to the South Florida climate. Native trees require lower maintenance in the long term and may reduce stormwater runoff.

Neat Streets Miami-Dade County awarded the City of North Miami a 2023 GREEN Miami-Dade County Matching Grant for its 2023 Neat Street Project in the amount of $40,000. As part of this project, 100 trees were planted all across the city of North Miami.
