Welcome to the Community Planning and Development Department!

As Director, I am proud to lead a team of dedicated professionals who work every day to shape a more vibrant, resilient, and sustainable North Miami. From reviewing development proposals to ensuring buildings are safe and compliant, from guiding long-term land use planning to support small businesses, our department plays a vital role in helping our community thrive. 

We’re currently advancing several exciting initiatives, and I’d like to share a few highlights with you:

Resilient NoMi in Action
Our commitment to a greener, stronger North Miami continues through a growing number of Resilient NoMi initiatives. One of our newest projects is the North Miami Food Forest, a community-based edible landscape that promotes food security, education, and sustainability. This joins our broader efforts to enhance community resilience—whether through improved stormwater infrastructure, climate-responsive planning, or support for green building practices.

Upcoming Land Development Regulations (LDR) Update Workshops
We are inviting residents, business owners, and stakeholders to actively participate in shaping North Miami’s future. This summer, we will host a series of public workshops to share and gather feedback on proposed updates to our Land Development Regulations. These updates aim to support smart growth, increase housing options, promote walkability, and protect neighborhood character. Stay tuned to our website and social media for dates and locations.

Introducing: Team Highlights
Behind every zoning review and community meeting is a talented team member dedicated to delivering excellent service. Starting this month, we’re launching Team Highlights—a rotating spotlight on the people behind the work. 

We hope this space helps our community connect more deeply with the team working hard behind the scenes—and sometimes on the front lines—to build a better North Miami.
