Buissereth

Officer Buissereth has been assigned to the Community Policing Section for the majority of her career with the North Miami Police Department. She currently oversees the Police Athletic League of North Miami (PALNM). Her duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, implementing proactive strategies focused on developing strong minds and good behavior through multiple programs that directly assist the children of our community.

During the Covid-19 Pandemic, Miami-Dade County enacted an emergency order that required all non-essential businesses, including services to the youth by the PALNM, to close temporarily. At the beginning of the 2020-2021 school year, students were unable to physically attend class due to the pandemic. Officer Buissereth, being proactive and innovative, utilized her creativity to single-handedly convert the PALNM building into a virtual learning hub for our youth to attend school.

Officer Buissereth continued her efforts well into the summer. She organized a summer camp that created everlasting memories for the kids. Every morning at summer camp, she began with an exercise session designed to promote personal development. Thereafter, the kids participated in activities that taught them interpersonal and life skills. For fun, Officer Buissereth arranged for the kids to attend multiple field trips, including Xtreme Action Park, Everglades Holiday Park, Galaxy Skateway, and a fishing trip.

The highlight of summer camp was “Field Day,” which truly defined the Department’s motto, “Making a Positive Impact.” Officer Buissereth organized a day full of activities where she invited the Police Department members to join the Police Athletic League of North Miami at Keystone tot lot. Officers from different sections responded without reservation and participated in many activities, such as soccer, basketball, tug-a-war, potato sack races, and a water balloon fight. This day was impactful to the kids and the officers who asked that we organize similar events more often. The smiling faces and interaction between our children and our law enforcement officers were priceless.

Officer Buissereth’s drive for continuous improvement, creativity, work ethic, and professionalism are some of her many great attributes. Her passion for the program and the youth we serve is beyond imaginable. Officer Buissereth is seen as a mother figure by the young men and women she guides at PALNM, loving and caring for them in ways beyond her job description.
