The City of North Miami is proud to announce a special event honoring North Miami business owner, Raanan Katz, with a street naming ceremony on Wednesday, Oct. 23, at 1 p.m. The ceremony will commemorate the re-designation of NE 18th Avenue, between NE 122nd Street and NE 123rd Street to Raanan Katz Street.

This event, hosted by Mayor Alix Desulme, Ed.D., will recognize Katz's longstanding contributions to the local community and his significant impact on both the real estate and business sectors in South Florida and beyond.

Katz, a former Israeli National Basketball Team player, was invited to the Boston Celtics' training camp early in his career, where he narrowly missed a spot on the final roster. After successfully transitioning from professional basketball, Katz settled in Boston and started his real estate business. Over the years, he has built a portfolio with more than 2,000 apartment units and multiple commercial properties throughout New England and South Florida including North Miami.

In 1984, Mr. Katz expanded his investments into Miami Beach, acquiring a block of stores and continuing to grow his real estate empire across Southeast Florida and New England. Today, his vision and attention to detail have ensured the long-term viability of his holdings, making him a respected figure in the community.

This street naming will honor Katz's contributions to the community, exemplified by his commitment to maintaining first-class properties and his pride in embedding his "RK" signature on every building he owns.

The City of North Miami invites all community members to attend this momentous event. To RSVP, please visit RaananKatzStreet.eventbrite.com.
