North Miami Celebrates Earth Month With An Array of Green Community Initiatives

NORTH MIAMI, FL (April 19, 2024) – As Earth Day approaches, the City of North Miami announces a dynamic series of events in observance of Earth Month. Residents and visitors are invited to engage in various activities promoting environmental awareness, sustainability and community involvement.

 

The City will kick off the celebration on Saturday, April 20, at 9 a.m., at the District 4 Clean Up, hosted by District 4 Councilman Pierre Frantz Charles, M.Ed. Guest will enjoy a morning of community service to beautify our cherished Claude Pepper Park, located at 1255 NW 135th Street, North Miami, FL 33186, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. 

 

Continuing the celebration, District 2 Councilwoman Kassandra Timothe, MPA, will host the highly anticipated annual Earth Fair on Saturday, April 20, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., at Enchanted Forest Elaine Gordon Park, located at 1725 NE 135th Street in North Miami. Highlights of the event will include hazard and electronic waste recycling, sneaker recycling, a farmers' market, local sustainability resources, musical entertainment, giveaways and more. A full list of items accepted for recycling can be found online.

 

Following the weekend festivities on Monday, April 22, at 10:30 a.m., join Miami-Dade County Commissioner Marleine Bastien, District 2, and the North Miami Public Library for an Earth Day Fruit and Veggie Market. Attendees will enjoy complimentary fresh fruits and vegetables, while connecting with fellow community members. Registration is required and can be done by calling the North Miami Public Library at 305-891-5535, during regular hours. The deadline to register is Saturday, April 20, at 5 p.m. The North Miami Public Library is located at 835 NE 132nd Street, North Miami.

 

The Potting and Potions event will conclude North Miami’s Earth Month festivities Monday, April 22, at 4 p.m., the North Miami Public Library invites residents to join them for a magical experience of planting herbs and flowers, then crafting delicious botanical beverages.

 

The City of North Miami extends its warmest invitation to all members of the community to participate in these exciting Earth Month events, demonstrating our commitment to environmental stewardship and creating a greener, and more sustainable future for generations to come.
