Chain Link Fence Permit & Inspection Requirements

The following is required for any permits that include the installation for chain link fences that are not covered by a product approval.

It is the responsibility of the contractor of record to ensure all required inspections are called for:

  • Foundation

  • Electrical (if applicable)

  • Final

Chain Link Fence requirements

Notes :

  • All fences shall comply with the latest version of the Florida Building Code
  • Refer to the City of North Miami code section 5-901 thru 5-904 for additional information

Commercial Districts

  • Maximum fence height is 6 feet

Single Family Residential District

  • All chain link fences shall be installed with the knuckled side up and shall be plastic coated. All straps shall be consistent in color with the color of the principal structure and be maintained in good condition and not weathered, crack or faded
  • Maximum fence is 6 feet in height at rear side of the property only

Industrial Districts

  • Maximum height allowed is 8 feet
  • Site specific engineering is required for any fence over 6 feet
