The City of North Miami Citizens Investigative Board (CIB) was established by City Ordinance on July 14, 2020. The purpose of the board is to ensure that public safety is the top priority for the City Administration to attract growth, encourage economic development and maintain a high quality of life for all citizens and residents.
The CIB provides an unbiased civilian oversight for misconduct accusations against sworn members of the North Miami Police Department. This organizational structure provides a credible mechanism, independent forum where complaints and accusations can be evaluated.
The CIB is comprised of seven members, appointed by the Mayor and City Council from various constituencies throughout the City. The selection process is designed to reflect the racial, ethnic, and cultural diversity of the City of North Miami.
