Public Services - CDBG public service program provides funding for Community Based Organizations (CBOs) offering a variety of public service activities. Public service activities include, but not limited to: programs for at-risk youth, after school programs, senior services, youth employment, employment for disabled persons, financial literacy, employment coaching and preparation and feeding the poor.

  • -Request For Proposal CBO 2016-2017 - Request for Proposals (RFPs) for public service activities will be received from not-for-profit Community Based Organizations (CBOs) for FY 2016-2017 funding through the Federal Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program beginning April 20, 2016.

    The deadline to submit proposals is Friday, May 6, 2016 at 4:00 p.m.

    Request for Proposals (RFPs) must be submitted on forms issued by the City of North Miami, and will be available beginning on April 20, 2016 at the City of North Miami Community Planning & Development Department, 12400 N.E. 8th Avenue, Monday through Friday, between 8:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. and online at The City of North Miami Housing website.

     A mandatory workshop to provide technical assistance for proposal submission will be conducted on Wednesday, April 27th , 2016 between 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. in the North Miami Police Conference Room.

    Total allocation available for CBO funding is $80,000.00.

    This Request for Proposals is subject to the final CDBG grant amount as approved by congress and distributed by HUD. The application is available online at the following link:

New Initiative - Building Public Service by Strengthening Relationship - Public services are needed in the North Miami community and strengthening the partnerships between providers and the City is essential. Therefore, during the year, the CDBG Administrator and Planning manager will be visiting all the nonprofit organizations receiving CDBG funds.

Public Facilities and Public Improvements - CDBG funds can be used for construction, reconstruction or rehabilitation of public facilities and improvements. The facilities must be opened to the general public and include libraries, public schools, firehouses and neighborhood centers. Public Improvements may include streets, sidewalks, parks, playgrounds, water and sewer lines, parking lots and aesthetic amenities on public property.

Special Economic Development with CDBG - Economic development encompasses the process, policies, and activities by which a community improves the long-term economic and social well-being of its people. The objective of economic development is a sustainable increase in living standards, including per capita income, education, health, and environmental protection. Economic development strategies offers government, the private and not-for-profit sectors, and local communities the opportunity to work together to improve the local economy. The Economic Development Manager and the CDBG Administrator have worked together on economic development projects, funded wholly or in part by the CDBG program.
